"Knowing Your Shoulder"

Back by popular demand, this class is a guide to optimal shoulder health. Bronny Brooks, PT, will cover topics such as brief anatomy, injuries and their common causes, conservative and surgical options for the management of shoulder pain, and strategies to assist in maintaining a healthy shoulder joint.
The class will be held at the Mally Recreation Center in conjunction with the Engelwood Department of Recreation. Participants can register through the Englewood Recreation Department website (www.englewoodrec.org) or at the Malley Center. For more information, call 303-762-2660.
"Jump Rope for Health"
Friday October 8, 2010 6pm-8pm
This is a FREE family event designed to promote the benefits of exercise for kids 5-12 years of age and their families. An exhibition will be performed by competitive jump rope teams, followed by a chance for kids (and parents) to learn a few jump rope tricks themselves! FREE jump ropes will be provided to the first 100 participants. A short informational talk about physical health, exercise and nutrition and their role in the prevention of Type II diabetes, osteoporosis, and other diseases will be included. There will also be educational resources from other groups concerned with childhood obesity and associated health problems available for families.
This fun event will be held at the Englewood Recreation Center. (Did we mention it's FREE!!)

"A Powerful Pregnancy"
November 2010 (Dates to be determined)
A new class series that will provide "expectant mothers" the chance to exercise in confidence. Utilizing fitness balls and foam rollers, participants will be instructed in exercises that are safe yet effective in maintaining core strength and flexibility. Education on pelvic floor function and strengthening and advice on healthy postures for feeding and carrying the newborn baby will be incorporated into these classes.
The program is specific to the pregnant mother and will help her manage the musculoskeletal changes that her body is experiencing. The class will also allow her to reach ideal physical health in preparation for labor, deliver, and the physical demands of caring for a newborn.
